Sheer Drapery & Layered Curtains
Soft, diffused light by day. Privacy and warmth by night.
Sheers are the quiet luxury of a well-dressed window. We make custom sheer drapery on its own for a soft, glowing daytime look, and layered behind heavier panels so you can move from full light to full privacy in one pull. Several of our customers specifically ask for curtains with connecting sheers, and it is one of our signatures.
Sheer drapery is lightweight, semi-transparent curtain made from open-weave fabrics such as voile, linen, and silk blends. Layered drapery pairs sheers with a heavier outer panel, often on a double rod or with attached sheers, to control light and privacy in stages.

Connecting and attached sheers
We build sheers attached to your main drapery or hung independently, so the two layers move together or separately as you prefer.
Natural-fiber sheers
Linen and silk-blend sheers diffuse California light beautifully and avoid the flat look of cheap synthetics.
Tuned to your light
We help you choose a weave that softens harsh afternoon sun without making the room dark.

“Designer's Choice Drapery is definitely the custom curtain place to go. Being in the business for over 40 years, Shawn is a down to earth guy who does not play with words. He is kind, and matter of fact. Once you tell him what you are looking for, bam, he takes you to the material that you were look…”
Sheer Drapery & Layered Curtains, answered.
Sheers soften and filter light while keeping a bright, airy feel. Blackout drapery blocks light almost completely. Many clients layer the two so they can have either at any time.
Often yes. We can add a sheer layer on a second rod or rebuild the treatment so the sheers connect to your panels.
